The main Causes Of Auto Accidents

35
You may not realize how many different types of things can cause you to be involved in an auto accident.  An accident is an undesirable event that is not expected.  It could also be called an unfortunate mishap.  With automobile accidents, the real truth is that many of them are not true accidents and they could have been avoided altogether.  What causes auto accidents?  And how can you keep from getting in an auto accident?  There are many different factors that come into play when you are looking at the causes of auto accidents.  Knowing what these are and being aware of them could possibly keep you out of some auto crash situations.

Some experts say there are four main things that cause most of the collisions in automobiles.  The number one cause of the accidents is equipment failure.  The number two cause is the way the road is designed.  Inadequate maintenance on the roads is a third cause and the way a driver drives is the fourth cause of the accidents.  Almost all of the accidents that happen with autos are a combination of the driver's way of driving and one of the other three causes.  The drivers who get into accidents generally try to blame everything else but themselves for the accident.  However, the way a driver drives is usually the biggest cause of the accident.  The primary causes of accidents in automobiles are going too fast, or speeding in your car, and driving too aggressively.

If you have equipment that goes out on your car it can be a problem.  The car manufacturers are required by regulation to meet certain minimum safety levels when they make cars.   Now days, the cars that are made are actually quite safe for the most part thanks to computers and all the research that has been done and documented over the years.  If you do have an equipment failure issue that causes an accident it might likely be that your brakes go out or your tires have a blowout.  There is also occasionally a problem with the suspension and steering.  These equipment failures, however, account for only a fraction of all the accidents.

It is unlikely that your brakes will ever go completely out with the advances that have been made in the way the manufacturers make the brake systems these days.  Vehicles now days seem to be quite safe.  The older style of brakes that had the drum system could go out on you when they got hot.  Now, the newer type of disc brakes that are used are more effective and don't seem to have this problem.  Most vehicles are also now coming equipped with ABS or anti-lock brakes that can help the wheels not to stick during emergency situations.  This ABS system really helps the driver avoid a lot of accidents.

The tires are much safer on modern cars than they used to be as well.  You will still need to keep your tires properly inflated, however, to make sure you don't cause a failure in them of some sort.  When your tires aren't inflated enough it can cause uneven or worn out tires and cause tire failure.
