Talent Show

• Invite students to participate in a talent show assembly. Hold auditions prior to the assembly to determine who will perform. Include a variety of talent acts, such as musical numbers, dances, stand up comedy acts and magic shows. Use the talent show as a format for spreading the assembly's theme of respecting differences or reaching for the stars. If you would like, have the acts judged in an American Idol style manner with one act winning the overall prize.
  
  

Guest Speakers

• Invite guest speakers to speak at your assembly on a particular theme. For example, if the assembly is about being kind to the environment, you may want to invite an expert on global warming to discuss why its important to care for the environment. Invite guest speakers who are well-versed in public speaking, particularly to children or teenagers. Ask the guest speakers to involve the students with a question and answer session or a post-assembly meet-and-greet.
  
  

Guest Performances

• Invite guest performers to perform their various skills at the assembly. Invite magicians, hypnotists, dancers, circus performers, comedians, or any other appropriate performer or performance group to entertain students at an assembly. Try to incorporate the performances around the theme of the assembly. For example, if the assembly has a "Respect our Differences" theme, you may want to invite a dance performance group that focuses on minority rights. It the assembly is winter holiday themed, you may want to invite a comedian dressed like Santa Claus.
  
  

School Spirit Pep Routine

• Boost school spirit before a big game by inviting the school band and cheerleaders to perform a routine at a pep assembly. Encourage students to dress up in school colors prior to the assembly and bring homemade signs that cheer the team on. Have the band lead the students in the school's fight song and have the cheerleaders hold up the lyrics so that everyone can participate. The cheerleaders can then perform chants and cheer stunts to pump up the crowd.
