If you have a poor or not so perfect credit report, you may be wondering what you are able to do about it.
You don't need to waste money on credit repair company, because you can normally do as much as they can.
First off, you need to get a report from all three of the major credit bureaus, which are Equifax, Transunion, and Experian.
You are allowed one free from each by law, and all you have to do is go online or call and request one.
They normally arrive in a couple weeks.
After you receive your credit reports, view them to make sure that all of the claims and information on them is accurate.
On your credit report it will list the address and numbers to the companies that have claims on your credit reports, and you are going to need these in order to try to remove them from your report.
What you are going to do is write one of the credit companies, any that have the specific negative claim, stating that they mark is inaccurate, provide them all of the companies information, and ask for it to be removed.
Then the credit bureau will file the claim with creditor, and the creditor has 30 days to respond back to the bureau.
If the creditor does not respond in the allotted 30 days, than the bureau will take the side of the consumer and the item will then be removed from your credit report, on all three different bureaus reports.
It is similar to fighting a traffic violation, of the police officer does not show up for the appeal, you don't get charged.
If the company does not respond, it gets removed.
Even though this doesn't work 100% of the time, it is often successful.
Since all your doing is writing a letter, the only money it is going to cost you is the amount for a stamp.
That is a very low fee to pay to see your credit score go up dramatically when a negative claim is removed.
Also make sure that you are reviewing and monitoring your credit report at least annually to prevent any further problems with your credit report.
This simple task can help remove negative items from your credit report and help you rebuilt your credit.
