Pick-up lines may have originated during the time of poets who compose poetry just as water flows from the river.
Back in those times, poetry may have just been introduced and since it is something new, it can really blow the mind of women.
Just sing out praises to them, and your lady love will easily notice you.
Now, gone are the times when one-hour long poetry can be a little inefficient and thus, come the one-liner pick-up lines.

But if these lines are said sincerely and with confidence, then there is huge chance of grabbing the attention of the woman you are attracted to.
Sense of humor is a huge plus with women.
Thus, some men also use jokes to grab the attention of women.
But, to some, no matter how old or new the joke was, women can't seem to laugh at it or even, notice it.
Again, if these jokes are said with humor and confidence, and not just to attract women, these can really be attention grabbers.
