The harsh surprise of suicide can create alarming levels of stress and depression that might require outside help to transcend and integrate into family and friends' understanding and acceptance. - HEARTBEAT is a suicide support network founded in Colorado Springs, Colo. The organization provides a list of HEARTBEAT-affiliated support groups across Colorado and other states, including Arizona, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, Wisconsin and more. HEARTBEAT was founded in 1980 by LaRita Archibald after the suicide of her son. If there is not a HEARTBEAT-affiliated group in your area, their website offers a 27-page guide on how to start your own local chapter.

In addition to a vast database of suicide grief support resources, the organization offers current suicide research, a survivors of suicide handbook, and a yearly suicide survivor conference. You will likely find an affiliated support group in your area and numerous online support resources to help with your grieving process.
