Life Under a Microscope

20
We cheer at the sight of butterflies hovering over a flower.
We rejoice at the sight of a squirrel playing gaily with a nut.
We get excited at the sight of a monkey engaging in a series of gimmicks.
We get awestruck at the sight of a tiger approaching us even if it is on a television.
We act and react to almost anything we see and feel on this earth.
However, we fail to feel those organisms that live inside our body; they have an entire world of their own in our body and we hardly ever respond to them the way we do with other stimuli which are rather visible in true sense.
These microscopic organisms have made our body their abode.
They are parasites and many other kinds of microbes.
They only make their impact felt when they disrupt the bodily functions in the form of various diseases.
From time to time, they remind us of their existence at the cost of our health.
It is their way of manifestation.
They are so tiny that they can be observed only through a microscope.
Similarly, our life has several microbes which we can't see until they reveal themselves in the form of some tragedy or mishap.
In today's fast paced life where we sacrifice our peace and health to amass wealth, we rarely notice any metaphorical microbe which is crouching like a tiger, ready to take its toll on us.
Sitting at the same posture for long hours This age of information and endless projects with deadlines work in alliance to take us to the other side of wellness.
We are always glued to our computer, ignoring our bodily posture.
Those prolonged work hours are stealthily making us structurally imbalanced.
We complain of back ache and spinal disorders before knowing it was the sitting posture which brought all these problems.
Umpteen number of caffeinated beverages Sipping from a cup of coffee or tea as and when you feel tired or drowsy is your acquired habit.
You get fleetingly rejuvenated, ignoring the other ill effects it brings along with it.
With every sip you add to your sugar intake, caffeine slows down the functioning of brain which is not good in the long term plus the sugar intake beckons a diabetic ailment.
High cholesterol intake Nobody has time to cook food at home as all of us are so much engrossed in our professional chores.
We have kind of surrendered our lives to our work.
We end up gorging on junk food loaded with cholesterol.
All their deliciousness is attributed to the spoons of oil and spices that have gone into them.
We are so much fond of haute cuisines and other delicacies that we consider ourselves gourmet.
We only realize that the delicacies have backstabbed us when we get that first cardiac arrest.
Physical inactivity With the sedentary lifestyle and our work nature, which requires us to stick to the same place for long hours, comes obesity.
We somehow manage to save some time to take rest from our physically inactive schedule which is no doubt very much hectic.
We miss out on exercises.
We take it for granted until we find ourselves uncomfortable in our regular clothes.
Yes, we unknowingly invite obesity which yearns for our hospitality.
Nicotine Boosters Taking a puff of cigarette is what we are addicted to.
Like caffeine, we take in nicotine too, apparently to boost our energy oblivious to its carcinogenic effect.
The news of our affliction comes as a bolt from the blue one day when we are lying on a hospital bed ailing and groaning.
These are some of the major metaphorical microbes which we decide not to see, though we can see them.
We only are forced to see them when they overpower us with their strong claws.
If we can use a microscope to see those creatures who live inside us that are otherwise invisible, then I think we are in a fair enough position to see the metaphorical microbes which we have developed around us.
It's time we took stock of the situation and put our life under a microscope.
