Degaussing the Computer

• 1). Push the power button off on the computer and turn it back on again. Most computers automatically degauss when they are turned off and on. If this does not remove the lines, proceed to the next steps.
  
  
• 2). Press the menu-features button located on the face of the monitor. The menu button is typically marked on most computer models, but it can vary in different models.
  
  
• 3). Scroll through the menu options with your mouse until you reach the "Degauss" tab. Push the Enter key to degauss the screen, which will reset the magnetic field of the monitor. This should remove the vertical lines. If it does not, proceed to the next section.
  
  

Update Drivers

• 1). Visit the video-card manufacturer's website and select "Support" page. This page should include the model number for the video card.
  
  
• 2). Select the the "Downloads" option of the support page and type in the video-card model number to obtain the correct and updated version of the driver. Download the driver and save it to the computer.
  
  
• 3). Double click on the driver icon to install the update version. Follow the on-screen prompts, which will include agreeing to a licensing agreement.
  
  
• 4). Restart or reboot the computer and monitor to complete the installation process.
