Prepare Your Passport in Advance

• Israel requires everyone entering and leaving the country, including Israeli citizens, show a valid passport. Israeli border regulation requires your passport be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Inside the country, carry the passport at all times as a form of photo identification.
  
  

Get Your Visa

• Israeli law also requires all foreign nationals have an entry visa. U.S. citizens do not need to apply in advance for a tourist visa. Tourist visas are valid for three months from the date of entry and are generally shown by the entry stamp in your passport. For visa regulations from other countries and for other types of entry visas, such as student or work visas, contact the nearest Israeli consulate office.
  
  

Travel Health Insurance

• Israel requires all visa applicants to have health insurance coverage. Israel has an excellent health care system, and everyone in the country, including tourists, is entitled to emergency care at any hospital. For more extensive care, health insurance coverage is required.
  
  

International Driver's License

• Only licensed drivers can drive, or even buy or rent vehicles, in Israel. Properly licensed foreigners can drive in Israel as long as the driver also carries a valid passport.
  
  

Have Trip Itinerary Planned in Advance

• Israeli law requires all visa applicants produce a round-trip plane ticket with the visa application, and provide an address and phone number in Israel. The Israeli contact information can be a hotel where the traveler has made reservations.
