People often struggle with training their dogs to live inside, but it is much simpler than you would think.
In fact, following a few simple rules will make your life a lot easier when training a dog.

1. Praise is the most effective tool.
   So often owners shouting, ranting, screaming and even hitting their dogs when they do something wrong, but when the dog behaves well they give little or no praise.
   Punishment won't tell a dog where or what to do, at best it will stop the dog in its tracks.
   At worst it can cause utter confusion which won't achieve any of your training goals.
   
2. Repeatedly use the same words when praising or telling off a dog.
   Dogs are like small children, if you use a word enough, they will begin to understand what it means.
   When your dog does something well, say the word you would like associated with that action.
   
3. Find an effective and non-aggressive punishment.
   The best punishments are ones that don't involve shouting or aggression.
   Making the dog stay in its bed or in a small area often work well.
   

The most important thing is to use punishment sparingly, if you use it too often before long it will lose its effect, and the dogs respect for you will go with it! Build a good relationship with the dog.
Start with the basics and work your way up, and by following these simple rules you will have your dog or puppy house trained in no time.
