"Shoot Me" - Do You Have Fearless Faith?
"Shoot me.
" These words spoken by a priest as he refuses to hand over his belongings and get on the ground while being robbed.
As I was perusing the news today, I read this article and those words jolted me a little.
You have a gun pointed at you and they tell you to hand over your belongings and get on the ground.
What would you do? In all likelihood, I would probably hand over my belongings and get on the ground, praying all the while that I would get home to my husband and children.
The priest has no wife and children, easier for him to say that.
Maybe easier, but still not easy.
What confidence in knowing where you are going! What a truly amazing and fearless faith! Like the priest, I know where I am going when I die.
I am one of those people who would love to go to heaven, if only it didn't mean leaving my children who are not yet raised.
I've been pondering the faith of that priest and thinking that that is how we should all live.
Fearless, knowing with confidence where we are headed.
So, my first blog is a question of sorts to you.
Even if you couldn't say "Shoot me," would you know where you are going if that person did shoot you? There really is no more important question.
Every single one of us WILL die.
Probably not by the hand of a robber, but death will come to each of us.
Know where you are going.
The Bible says you will either spend eternity with God or you will spend eternity separated from God.
If you don't know Jesus Christ, ask Him to reveal Himself to you.
He will.
The Holy Spirit is ever the gentlemen and is waiting for an invitation to show Himself.
As you look up into the sky today and see a tiny speck of the vastness of the heavens, remember this; the God Who created all of it, created you.
He loves you and has a purpose for your life.
Our minds cannot even conceive of how much He really does love us.
I may not be ready to say, "Shoot me," but I know when this body dies, the angels will be there, waiting to take me to see my Lord and my God.
Won't you join me in heaven?
