WHTI

• The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative is a group that includes the United States, 17 Caribbean islands, Canada and Mexico. These nations have agreed on a standard of passport requirements for residents traveling within that area.
  
  

Passport

• Citizens of countries within the WHTI (which includes the United States) can vacation in Aruba with a valid passport. This applies to those traveling on an airplane or ship.
  
  

U.S. Passport Card

• A U.S. passport card, which is smaller and less expensive than a passport, may be used to vacation in Aruba if arriving by sea. It is not, however, an option for those traveling by air to Aruba.
  
  

Possible Options

• Travel to Aruba includes a few WHTI exceptions. Military-issued cards may be substituted for the passport requirement as are enhanced and Native American tribal cards.
  
  

Citizens from outside WHTI

• Vacationers to Aruba who arrive from countries not within the WHTI will need a valid passport and a return plane ticket. Those from certain nations, including part of Africa and the Middle East, may also be required to get a Visa for their trip to Aruba.

• Passport rules for entry into Aruba are subject to change. Always re-check the requirements, leaving enough time to get additional documents before vacation if necessary.
