Inground Pool Skimmer Installation

1
    • 1). Slip the skimmer into the hole on the side pool panel. Push it in until the rim of the skimmer is flush with the panel. Leave the seal and cover off until the liner is put in.

    • 2). Slip the water-return fittings into place as well and tighten the lock nut to the return on the outside of the panel to secure it. This is part of the skimmer system in that these need to be placed appropriately for it to work. The panels that have the pre-cut return holes can be placed anywhere, but you must ensure that they will face or aim in the general direction of the skimmer. The force of water being pushed back into the pool pushes water toward the skimmer.

    • 3). Place the liner into the pool and spread it out. Push it toward the corners. Pull out wrinkles along the bottom.

    • 4). Fill the pool with water. While you can, keep working on the liner. Have a pool professional help you install the liner properly. Professionals use a vacuum to remove air under the liner and fit it snugly. Stop the water flow when there is 6 inches of water in the shallow end so that the installer can put the liner in its track along the edge. Keep filling and stop again once there is 12 inches of water on the shallow end.

    • 5). Cut the liner around the skimmer and returns. Cut inside the holes. Place the rubber gasket and cover plates in place over the openings and screw them down with the included hardware. Use a drill to help you get through the liner and panel. Plumbing lines will be attached to the outside of the pool and run to the filter system.
