How to Keep Men's Hair Straight With Mousse

4
    • 1). Clean and rinse your hair in the shower, as usual. Use your bath towel or a hand towel to dry your hair, so that it's damp and not dripping wet.

    • 2). Spread two to three pumps of medium- or maximum-hold mousse into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together so the mousse is evenly distributed along your palms and fingers.

    • 3). Run your fingers through your still damp hair. Avoid heavily pressing the hair down against your head. Instead, lightly and gently run your hands first over the top of your head and then down the back and sides.

    • 4). Wash your hands to get any remaining mousse off them.

    • 5). Use a comb to straighten your hair and make it lay flat down in the style and part arrangement you desire. Focus extra combing motions on patches of hair that tend to frizz when dry or which you've noticed stick out from your head, forming obnoxious cowlicks.

    • 6). Alternatively, if you want a straight but not slicked-down look, blow dry your hair after applying the mousse. Use a soft-bristled brush to brush your hair flat and straight as you dry. Once dried, use your fingers to adjust any pieces of hair that stick up or are out of place.

    • 7). Hold your style in place by spraying aerosol, medium-hold hairspray on your hair. Hold the can 6 inches away from your scalp, and press the button down for 2 seconds while you move the can around your head -- so that it evenly distributes the hairspray.
