Easy Steps to Crate Training

6
Crate training a puppy should be initiated as soon as he sets foot in your home.
As a matter of fact crate training helps the puppy in house training, provides him a secure place when you cannot oversee and serves as a perfect way to travel along with him.
Therefore the sooner you introduce a crate to your puppy, the sooner he will have a home for himself.
There are a few easy steps which will give you a direction in this venture.
It is significant that you place the crate in the area where your puppy can always see you.
In case your crate is wire-type, then put some blanket or a thick sheet inside so that he is comfortable.
This will also create a shielded environment for him.
Take the crate with puppy inside it, everywhere you go or to the place where there are more people.
He should feel a part of your family.
Initially the puppy will feel scared of going inside the crate.
So, entice him into it.
This can be done by placing some special food for him in the crate.
When he goes inside to fetch for it, praise him and repeat the course of action for several minutes.
This will build his confidence and he will have a natural feeling to go in the crate.
Any voluntary feeling of entering the crate will go a long way.
Remember to keep the doors of the crate open all this while.
Always attempt to feed your puppy in the crate.
You can do this by keeping the bowl in the crate and then slowly closing the door once he is inside it.
Wait until he is just about to finish the food, and then open the door.
In case your puppy wants to come out shortly after you have closed the door, allow him to come out.
However, keep his food bowl in the crate and close the door.
Let him seek for food and let him go inside the crate when he wishes to.
The practice should be repeated until the food is over.
