Acebutolol Usage and Information
Treat high blood pressure. It can be used alone or in combination with any other medicines. It is also used to treat certain types of arrhythmia. It can also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor. Acebutolol is the beta blockers. It works by causing the heart to beat more slowly and regularly.Do Not Use:

Usage:
Take acebutolol as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for dosing instructions carefully.
Side Effects If Possible:
All medicines may have side effects, but many people have not, or have some minor, side effects. Consult with your doctor if any of the common side effects persist or become bothersome from the following:
Constipation; diarrhea; dizziness or lightheadedness; frequent urination; gas; headache; indigestion; mild drowsiness; nausea; sleepiness; sleeplessness; unusual tiredness or weakness.Seek medical help quickly if any of these are became severe.
Severe high allergic reactions like rash or hives or itching, difficulty breathing or tightness in the chest or swelling of the mouth or face or lips or tongue or chest pain or tightness or dark urine or difficulty in breathing when lying down or mental or mood changes or pale stools or persistent muscle or joint pain or persistent nausea or loss of appetite or shortness of breath or swelling of the hands or ankles or feet or unusually slow heartbeat may occur or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

- If you have a very slow heart rate, heart failure, heart block, shock due to serious heart problems, or low blood pressure caused by a heart attack
- If you are taking mibefradil
Before Using:
Some other medical conditions may interact with acebutolol. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the reasons apply to you from the following:
- If you have breathing or lung problems ( For example, bronchitis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), diabetes, overactive thyroid, liver or kidneys or adrenal problems (e.g., pheochromocytoma).
- If you have allergies to medicines, food, or other materials.
- If you are currently having a severe allergic reaction or if you have a history of severe allergic reaction.
- If you have heart failure and other heart problems (e.g., slow heart rate, and valves, ventricular heart problems), low blood pressure, or blood vessel problems (eg, Vascular Stenosis).
- If you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement.
- If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- If you have a surgery.
Some other medicines may interact with acebutolol. Consult your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially the following:
- Digoxin, diltiazem, disopyramide, fingolimod, flecainide, ketanserin, mibefradil, or reserpine because side effects may occur, such as severe low blood pressure or slow heart rate.
- Mefloquine or verapamil because serious risk may be increased such as form the heart problems.
- Certain cold medicines, decongestant nasal sprays (eg, oxymetazoline), or diet medicines because severe high blood pressure may occur.
- Clonidine if you suddenly stop taking clonidine while taking acebutolol the high blood pressure may occur in such cases.
- Indomethacin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (eg, ibuprofen) because they may decrease the effectiveness of acebutolol.
- Flecainide, hydralazine, ketanserin, or quinazolines (eg, alfuzosin) because the side effects risks may be increased by acebutolol.
Usage:
Take acebutolol as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for dosing instructions carefully.
- Take acebutolol by mouth with or without food.
- Acebutolol at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
- Continue to take acebutolol even if you feel well. Do not miss a doses.
- If you miss any of a dose of acebutolol, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and come back your dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
