Saving The Planet - No One Said It Was Going To Be Easy
Helping to save the planet is pretty his pretty high up on most people's list of priorities at the moment, most of try to buy a car that will not kick out a huge amount of polluting fumes every time that it is started up as well as being more aware of certain other environment issues such as leaving lights switched on in the house when they are not needed and not wasting water unnecessarily.
Some of the things that we do to save the planet are pretty straight forward and do not take a great deal of planning or re-adjusting of the way we lead our lives but just occasionally you have to make that extra little bit of effort to give a better result further down the line.
In reality it would be silly of me to suggest some weird and whacky ways of saving the planet that no one would take any notice of, the points I am going to suggest are pretty simple to implement and may even be some fun.
If only fifteen per cent of the people who read the article take up just one of the points that I am going to suggest then this will have been worthwhile, you see it is too easy to sit back and think that what is happening to the planet is nothing to do with us and that we can leave it to someone else to sort out Global Warming.
We cannot, we owe it to our children and our grand children to do as much as possible now so that they have got a fighting chance of being able to lead what we would call a normal life when they grow up.
We do not own the planet that we live on, it is simply something that we have been trusted to look after whilst we stay here, and when our generation is finished with it then we pass the baton on to the next generation for them to do their bit.
It really is as simple as that.
So what can we do to make sure the legacy we leave for the next generation is a good one? We should now all be educated in the ways of re-cycling and energy conservation within the home but it needs to go further than just in the home.
Recycling is not just a household problem, walk down any street in your local town and you will see litter bins that contain any amount of mixed waste.
Why not campaign for re-cycling bins to be put on the streets of your local town? A town not too far from where I live did just that and in the first year the rubbish that was taken to the landfill site purely from street rubbish bins was halved, saving the community a small fortune in taxes as well as keeping their local area more environmentally friendly.
Seek the information out on the inter web, it is all there and then take the information to your local politician and see what he has to say about it.
For many years now people have been advocating car sharing as a means to get to work, which is great.
But this only solves half of the problem; it is still putting cars on the road to pollute the environment.
Why not look to cycle to work if at all possible.
For many people this is a viable option that they have never considered before, all you need is a bike and some cycling apparel and you are up and away.
Cycling is totally green as well as being extremely good for you as well as the environment.
If you live near a few colleagues why not look to cycle to work as a team? This will help to keep spirits up and keep you motivated through the colder months of the year.
In the first few months of cycling to work you will have improved your bank balance as well as improving your fitness level as you will not have had to spend any money on fuel for the car.
These are just two ideas that people could fight for or implement to make the world a better place, somethings are worth fitting for, your kid's future health should be one of them
