How to Measure Five Gallons in a Seven Gallon Bucket
- 1). Place the empty seven gallon bucket outside on a flat surface. Fill a one gallon container -- a bucket or empty milk jug, for example -- entirely with liquid. Pour all of the contents from the one gallon container into the seven gallon bucket. Repeat this step four more times to secure five gallons in the seven gallon bucket.
- 2). Fill the seven gallon bucket with liquid. Dip the one gallon container or jug carefully into the seven gallon bucket until the container fills with liquid. Remove the one gallon container and discard the liquid. Dip the smaller container in again and remove one additional gallon to reduce the original seven gallons to five gallons.
- 3). Pour seven gallons of liquid into the larger bucket. Place an empty two gallon container or bucket nearby onto the flat surface. Transfer liquid from the seven gallon bucket into the two gallon container until the smaller container is full.
