How to save money on your honeymoon
Looking after your money doesn't mean you have to miss out on that trip away, if you take more care in planning your holiday you can easily treat yourself to a holiday without forking out lots of money. Whether you're planning luxury safaris, a romantic honeymoon, a family holiday or a short weekend away, saving money on your holiday can mean that you have more money to spend whilst you're on holiday or with your savings you could potentially plan another holiday later on.
What I have here are some tips which I have gathered from my own experience, I have been on a variety of holidays from luxury safaris, honeymoons to short weekends away with my wife and on each occasion I have been able to save at least 150. Book in advance - I can't stress enough how important it is to book your vacation in advance, the only acceptation to this would be after the January sales when travel companies seek new custom by reducing their holiday packages and flights.
This however can sometimes work to your advantage as most airlines offer you a flight at a later time during the day or week, also giving you money off flights to be used on a future booking. On a romantic vacation to New York our flight was over booked and my wife and I were given the opportunity to go on another flight and receive money off our next flight with the airline, luckily as it turned out there was a flight going sooner than the flight I had book, the only problem was that, that plane was leaving within the next thirty minutes we had to catch a flight from Manchester to Dublin and this flight would then take us to New York. Not only did we get into New York before originally planned but we received over 300 worth of vouchers for our next flight with the airline, which incidentally made our flight earlier on this year just 100 per person to New York.
The internet is king - These days, the prices of online deals commonly beat those prices available on the high street. Whether you're planning a luxury safari or a package holiday, the internet has made it easier to find the best deals on your entire holiday, from flights to accommodation. To help save time finding which airlines fly to your chosen destination a hand website is €Flightmapping' and it also provides a rough idea of flight prices. Use flight and holiday comparison sites and once you've found a deal which suites you, check the companies own site to see if it's cheaper, in some instance it can be useful to contact the company you plan on booking the holiday with to see if they can either match the price quoted or make it slightly cheaper.
Research - Make sure when your planning your holiday that you're not visiting or leaving during a public holiday as this can easily add an extra 10% to the cost of your holiday.
