Why Can't I See My Autofill Icon on My Mac?
- When you load a website while surfing the Internet with your Mac, the page may have a Web form that requests information from you, such as your name, address or phone number. Apple includes the Address Book utility on every new Mac, which you can use to store your personal information for automatically filling out Web forms.
- Apple installs the free Safari Web browser on every new Mac. Safari has tabbed browsing, which enables you to open multiple Web pages in different tabs, instead of having to open a separate window for each page and cluttering up your Mac’s screen. Safari works with Apple’s native Mail application, so you can quickly email the contents of a Web page.
- Click “Safari” from the Safari menu, and then click “Preferences” when you want to enable Autofill. The Preferences window appears, with three options for Autofill Web forms: “Using Info from My Address Book Card,” “User Names and Passwords” and “Other Forms.” Click the check boxes next to each form to enable them. Click the red circle at the upper left corner of the preferences window to close it.
- If you don’t see the Autofill icon on the Safari application window, it could be because the toolbar is hidden. Click “View” from the Safari menu, and then click “Show Toolbar.” If you don’t see the Autofill icon in the toolbar, it means that someone has removed the icon, but you can put it back. Click “View,” and then click “Customize Toolbar.” Drag the “Autofill” icon from the toolbar customization window onto the toolbar, and then click “Done.”
