Am I Ugly Enough For Cosmetic Surgery?

27
This is a question that you have to answer on your own.
You shouldn't let anyone else convince you to get cosmetic surgery.
It is an incredibly serious procedure.
Once you change the original you, you can never get it back.
Let me tell you a story about a girl I knew.
I thought that she was stunning.
She had a very particular face.
When she was young, she had a lot of confidence.
She was kind of a tomboy.
A lot of other girls were jealous of how sure of herself she was.
Well, when she got older she lost her confidence.
She started worrying about her appearance.
At first, she wore too much makeup.
It looked terrible.
I told her that she didn't need to wear a mask of makeup.
She just got mad at me when I said that.
Then, she started to get obsessed with cosmetic surgery.
She wanted to change her face.
Her parents wouldn't let her.
I was happy about this.
Then, she told me that she was going to get cosmetic surgery the moment she was 18.
I told her not to.
I begged her not to.
Still, my opinion of her face meant far less to her than her own.
She had convinced herself that the only way she would look good is if she had cosmetic surgery.
As the months went by, I just tried to soak up her face the best I could.
I knew that she was going to lose it forever.
When she turned 18 she got the cosmetic surgery done.
She was so happy and filled with confidence.
Because of the confidence, she did rise in popularity.
Since then, she has lived a fairly happy life.
I hadn't seen her for years when I saw her again one day.
She looked the same as the day she walked out of the plastic surgeon's office.
I was happy to see that she had not formed an addiction to cosmetic surgery like some people do.
We talked for a while about the years.
Then, she broke down and started crying.
She told me that she never passed a mirror without wishing that she had her old face back.
She told me that she hated looking like everyone else.
She felt so fake.
She told me that she felt like she had cheated herself out of her natural life.
It broke my heart.
I told her that she was mistaken.
I told her that she was still beautiful in her own right.
She smiled, but I could tell I hadn't convinced her.
Still, sometimes you can't help but get cosmetic surgery.
If you've been burned or injured, sometimes you have to get cosmetic surgery.
I am in no way saying this is a bad choice.
I just want to point out that some people will regret trading in their unique self.
People out there think you are beautiful.
Surround yourself with those people.
Don't go searching for the same pie in the sky that everyone hungers for.
