• 1). Turn your Sony Ericsson phone off and then back on. Sometimes screen issues are caused by minor software glitches that can be resolved by this type of power-cycling. Once the phone is back on, watch for your screen to either light up like normal or remain dark.
  
  
• 2). Remove the battery while the phone is still turned on. This causes the phone to purge its temporary memory cache. Your screen should function normally once the battery is back in and the phone restarted, if the software problem stems from that location.
  
  
• 3). Master reset the phone using a combination of hardware keys. Check your user guide for instructions on how to perform this reset because not every Sony Ericsson model uses the same steps. This reset will revert the phone's software to factory standard, effectively wiping out any software bugs that have caused your screen issue.
  
  
• 4). Call your carrier for replacement or repair. If software issues have been ruled out by taking the above steps, the screen issue is hardware related, and you will need to either have it repaired or replaced outright.
