Symptoms & Causes of MS
- MS is caused when the myelin sheath or cover for the central nervous system nerves for the brain and spinal cord is damaged. The damage to the myelin sheath slows down nerve transmissions.
- There are groups of symptoms that can point to MS. One symptom is visual disturbances including blurred vision, double vision and loss of vision. Eyes may experience physical pain from optic neuritis or inflammation to the optic nerve.
- Muscle paralysis and weakness are other symptoms of MS. Muscles may move involuntarily or be stiff. Muscle issues can also affect speech.
- Numbness, pain, itching, a buzzing sound and lack of coordination and balance are other signs MS is looming.
- Symptoms of MS may manifest themselves sexually and in the bowels or bladder. In turn, sexual dysfunction and lack of control of the bowels or bladder can occur.
- Other symptoms can be a sign of MS. Depression, mood swings, anxieties and aphasia (speech impairment) are other possibilities.
