Data masking refers to a process in which personal, private, or identifying information related to students, teachers, administrators, or other school personnel is hidden or redacted from reports or other documents that may be released to third parties such as researchers or consultants. Often times, it is necessary for schools to submit data to third parties. However, schools must maintain the privacy of the stakeholders in their district.
