Air Supply in Atlantic City 04/21/07
Atlantic City, NJ: Air Supply Rocks the House at Trump Marina On Saturday night, Air Supply performed to a crowd of true Airheads.
I can't recall a time when the audience participation was so great...
and so loud! Graham Russell opened the show with three tracks from his debut CD The Future, singing The Future, Make You Mine and Lace & Leather.
Graham also came out with two new guitars, including a very colorful new baritone that had never been played before.
As Graham sang, his mood was very playful.
His facial expressions and interactions with the audience were a lot of fun and you could tell he was really having a great time.
Starting with Even the Nights Are Better, Graham, Russell Hitchcock, Jed Moss, Jonni Lightfoot and Mike Zerbe delivered just what the fans were looking for - an awesome concert! Russell's power vocals on Just As I Am were more than impressive and A Little Bit Of Everything brought a lot of fun and playfulness to the show.
When Here I Am began, 'oohs' and 'aahs' could be heard throughout the showroom and, as usual, everyone helped out Russell with the last 'you' at the end of the song.
Chances is always a surprising song because it seems that the audience is not at first sure what the song is.
When recognition sets in, there is an excitement the ripples throughout the crowd.
Jonni's bass 'solo' during Chances was fabulous, as it always is! One addition to the show, it seems, is that Graham now introduces the audience to Jed's classical background.
I suppose we could call this part of the show 'Jed's prelude' to Faith In Love.
Jed's two-minute performance of Chopin was stunning! Just when you thought he was about to stop, and the audience applauded, Jed continued and played even more! Wow! After Faith In Love came The River/Sweet Dreams, and the band solo Live and Let Die.
Russell's performance of Power Of Love blew fans away, and it was the first, but not last, standing ovation of the night.
Next came Two Less Lonely People In The World with the familiar 'playing in pizza parlors for free' story that Graham and Russell always share with the audience.
The audience did their first 'sing-along' and it was surprising to hear so many people singing! Graham and Russell then went out into the audience and sang The One That You Love and everyone was on their feet again! Lost In Love, Making Love Out Of Nothing At All and All Out Of Love rounded out the song list, and by the end of Lost In Love there wasn't anyone sitting in their chairs.
When Russell called the crowd to 'come get closer' before Making Love Out Of Nothing At All, nearly the whole showroom left their seats to go to the front! These fans knew what they wanted, and all they needed was an invitation from Russell! The show was incredible.
The lighting and sound were spectacular and it was a fabulous night! Once again, thanks go out to Graham, Russell, Jonni, Jed and Mike for giving fans yet another memorable concert.
Sparky, Moe, Mark, Brett and Nate are integral to the success of each show and they, too, are once again appreciated! Cheers!
