How to Disable Back Buttons on an Android
- 1). Turn on your phone and press the "Home" button. Tap the application launcher and select your file explorer/browser.
- 2). Navigate to the root folder of your device. If your file explorer opens in the SD Card or any other directory, tap the "/" or "..." entry until you can no longer do so.
- 3). Tap the "system" folder, then "usr," then "keylayout." The configuration files are inside the keylayout folder; the file you're looking for is a keyboard configuration file ending in ".kl." Most phones label the file "(your phone model name)_keypad.kl," but some manufacturers use the model's code name instead.
- 4). Open the configuration file in your text editor. Find the line labeled "back" in the second column. Place the text cursor directly to the left of "back," then delete with the backspace key. If the removal of these characters changes the formatting in the third column, press the space bar until it returns to its default state.
- 5). Press the "Menu" button, then "Save" or "Save and exit." Reboot your phone to apply the changes.
