The next thing that you have to do is get your home ready for them.
It is definitely recommended that you have a chicken coop in place for them.
Coops can cost a lot of money and that is why I have always built my own.
It is actually quite easy.
The first thing that you have to do is decide what type of chicken coop is going to work best for you.
What size do you need small, medium or large.
Is your chicken coop going to be heated and so on.
Once you have decided what type of chicken coop you need, the next step is to get a reliable blueprint for your coop.
It is not recommended that you build a coop without a good blueprint.
There are great resources online with all types of blueprints.
Once you have a great chicken coop blueprint, you will need to get your materials.
It is quite possible that you will be able to make your chickies coop out of old material that you have lying around your house.
If not you will need to get down to your local hardware shop and pick up some chicken wire and wood.
Don't forget your hammer.
When your blueprint and materials are ready to go, you should set aside a few uninterrupted hours to build your chicken coop.
You can even invite a few friends over and have a coop building party! At the end of the day you should have a palace for your chicks!
