How to Post No Trespassing Signs in Virginia
- 1). Create a sign that clearly states "Posted" in bold letters. Virginia law requires that all property signs contain a "Posted" marking. Aluminum signs may provide a longer-life sign that requires less maintenance.
- 2). Mark the sign with a visible "No Trespassing" label. The letters must be large enough to be read from the road when you hang the sign on your property line.
- 3). Hang the signs 10 to 12 feet above the ground. Distribute the signs around the property line as well as at every entrance to the property and along any trails or beach lines.
- 4). Monitor your signs periodically to be sure they are still intact and still clearly marked. Replace signs as needed due to fading or damage.
