Does Protein Build Muscle? Another Bodybuilding Myth
Many starter and seasonal bodybuilders think that taking a lot of protein will make you bigger - more muscular.
I would say that they are not lying to you.
Yes you might become huge however, I hate to conceal this but you'll not become muscular but flabby.
You see, a lot of people thought that protein - fish, beef, chicken, eggs and protein shake build muscles.
I'm not sure where in the world or which website they saw this tip but I'm telling you that this isn't so.
Protein contains amino acids - primary building blocks for muscle building and tissue repair.
We take protein from every day food that we eat but it is not the factor that builds muscle.
In other words, protein is only a supplement needed by the body to build muscles.
The truth is, we build muscles due to aggressive movements we do like exercise, weight training, weight lifting, bodybuilding and other strenuous activities you could think of.
Our body grows when the stress (due to the weight) is greater than what it use to have.
It needs to adapt to this stress (there's no other way around) via building stronger and bigger muscles.
You may notice soreness in your muscles after an intense physical the next day and days after.
This is a perfect example of your body "re-building" or recuperating muscle fibers because it isn't use to the activity you did.
To rebuild or recuperate, your body needs "supplements" this is where protein and other food supplements comes in.
Our muscle is made up of protein, water and other organic components.
It needs protein and intense physical activity to grow.
I emphasized intense physical activity - exercise that your body hasn't adapted to do.
This is crucial because some people at the gym might do 10lb bicep curls like the ladies do and dreaming of bigger biceps.
That would be far from happening.
Remember these elements for gaining lean mass: aggressive muscle flexing and contraction plus good food supplements (protein, carbs, fats, vitamins) and enough rest.
Those will make your guns bigger than ever.
