Pentax Optio E90 Digital Camera Review - A Great Digital Camera For Under 50
If you're looking for a cheap and cheerful digital camera on a budget then I may have just found the perfect digital camera for you.
The camera in question is the Pentax Optio E90 digital camera which is just that, it's affordable and easy to use for even a beginner; however there are some bad points.
The E90 offers wide angle coverage of 31mm and is able to optically zoom up to 3 times, as you may know this isn't as far as some of the other cameras on the market but having said that there is also an option to "smart zoom".
This smart zoom option will allow you to zoom up to 17 times more the initial distance without "losing image quality" as according to the manufacturer, however having tested this function out it was just as I expected and it is indeed a digital zoom.
If you don't know what the difference between a digital and optical zoom is then let me take a quick second to explain.
An optical zoom is the actual ability to zoom in on the subject without losing quality, digital zoom on the other hand simply crops the image and enlarges it, and this method decreases the image quality.
Now you may think this sounds bad, however every digital camera has this digital zoom.
That's the bad stuff out of the way now let me tell you about some of this cameras redeeming features.
First of all the camera is ideal for anyone looking for a simple camera that will allow them to take snap shots of anything and everything, you won't need to study photography or learn how to use the camera because all of the settings are taken care for you by the camera.
The camera will detect the right settings to use to give a correct exposure and will even adjust the ISO sensitivity automatically to give a quick enough shutter speed not to ruin any of your pictures with camera shake or blur.
Another main point that I would like to bring up is that the camera has a weird shape to it, which by the way took some getting used to, however it now feels pretty natural and allows me to hold the camera comfortably even with my big hands, I also haven't dropped the camera as of yet which is quite uncommon for me.
If you're looking for a camera that will allow you to zoom in on the subject quite allot then don't get this camera because it will be useless to you, however if you're looking for a simple camera that works very well straight out of the box, then for only £50 why not try this camera.
