Weslaco Ghost

1
"I would like to share this photo that was taken in a historic hotel in Weslaco, Texas," says Ashley. "This hotel was built in 1928. It is now a plaza for the public; there is a restaurant, ballroom and a couple of businesses as well. It also has a basement and the basement can be rented and used for parties, baby showers, etc. This photo was taken in the restroom of the basement. In this photo there are two young girls taking a picture of themselves with a cell camera through a mirror.

In the back you can clearly see another young girl as well. I did some research and, based on what she is wearing, she is from the year late 1920s and early 1930s. She is clearly wearing a bonnet hat and has a sweater on her right arm and holding a basket with her left hand. It seems as if she is dressed for spring or perhaps Easter. If you're wondering how I got this photo, it was sent to me through my cousin. My cousin is a friend of these two girls."

There are two possibilities here. We can rule out a double exposure since it was taken with a cell phone camera. So it's either:
  • A ghost
  • A hoaxed photo

What do you think?

UPDATE: IT'S A HOAX!

Reader Michael Banti writes: "I hate to say this, but it's a hoax. The picture was altered using an application for the iPhone called Ghost Capture. And here is an image showing all the ghosts you can place in a photo. If you look near the middle right you will see the same image that is in the photo you posted. Just thought I would pass on this information as it seems more and more people are using this app to fool people into believing they actually took a picture of a ghost.

Thanks, Michael.
