Having Auto Insurance is a Good Thing
When you become old enough to drive then you should also be responsible enough to pay for your auto insurance or pay a portion of the premiums.
Driving is a responsibility that should not be taken lightly and today there are many teenagers that do take advantage of this privilege.
Is it because this generation has spent much of the time giving the younger adults everything we did not have growing up and most families have dual incomes? If this is the case, then how can we hold them accountable for things we did not teach them? Once we as parents or adults or even mentors show them that accountability includes everyone and everything then we can instill the responsibilities that go along with driving.
Even though there are states that do not require auto insurance does that make it right? What if you are in an accident and are hurt very badly, the accident was not your fault but there should be auto insurance coverage available so either the hospital of car repair shop can receive monies to help you.
This is where if you had the auto insurance you would be able to go to hospital and get taken care of and then have your vehicle fixed.
Yes, you would have to pay the deductible to get your car out of the body shop but that is minimal compared to if you had no insurance at all.
Auto insurance is a safety net that no one wants to use but is glad if they have to activate it no matter who is at fault.
Carrying auto insurance is the responsible thing to do and as a driver this responsibility is also passed on to you too.
Talk with your parents if you still live with them and see what you share will be.
If you live alone then do your research on the internet to find the best coverage for you and your situation but put something on your vehicle to protect you and the other driver if you need it.
Most of the time it is not you that you have to worry about but the other driver.
