How to Convert a Chlorine Pool to Baquacil

2
    • 1). Balance your pool water. Take a water sample to your local pool chemical dealer and balance the pH and alkalinity of the pool water with recommended chemicals and dosage.

    • 2). Chemically remove any chlorine in filtration system. If you use a cartridge for filtration, replace the cartridge or use Baquacil D.E. and Cartridge Filter Cleaner. If you use a D.E. system for filtration, clean the system and filters with Baquacil D.E. and Cartridge Filter Cleaner. A sand filtration system requires Baquacil Sand Filter Cleaner or you may replace the sand.

    • 3). Remove any existing automatic chlorine or bromine dispensers.

    • 4). Neutralize the chlorine or bromine by adding 5 oz. of Baquacil Chlorine Neutralizer for every 2 ppm of free chlorine or 4.5 ppm of bromine per 10,000 gallons of pool water. For example, if the pool has 20,000 gallons of water and the free chlorine is 4 ppm, 20 oz. of neutralizer is needed to neutralize the chlorine in the pool water.

    • 5). Control haze or algae, if present, by adding 1 gallon of Baquacil Oxydizer per 10,000 gallons of pool water.

    • 6). Circulate the water continuously for eight to 12 hours and retest the water for free chlorine or bromine. Use additional neutralizer if needed. The free chlorine or bromine must be zero before moving to the next step.

    • 7). Remove metals from the pool water by adding 1¼ lbs. of Baquacil Metal Control for every 2 ppm of metals present during water testing per 10,000 gallons of pool water. This step must be followed for plaster pools even if the water has no metals detected during testing. Circulate the water continuously for eight to 12 hours.

    • 8). Add 4 pts. of Baquacil Sanitizer and Algistat per 10,000 gallons of pool water until reaching a level of 50 ppm. A dosage chart is on the container label.

    • 9). Add 5¼ oz. of Baquacil Algicide per 10,000 gallons of pool water and filter water continuously for 24 hours. Follow the Baquacil Routine Maintenance System for regular maintenance.
