How to Recycle the Batteries From a Hybrid Auto
- 1). Look at the label on your hybrid battery. Some manufacturers, such as Honda and Toyota, include a toll-free number you can call to arrange to send the battery back to the company for recycling. They may even pay you to do so. (See Reference 1)
- 2). Contact the dealership where you purchased your hybrid vehicle. Some dealerships will take back the car battery and get it recycled on your behalf. If the manufacturer will not accept the battery, this can be a convenient option. (See Reference 2)
- 3). Call your local recycling centers to ask if they have a recycling program for hybrid auto batteries. Online resources, such as Earth 911, can help you find recycling centers near you. You can even search for recyclers that accept "car batteries." Contact information can also be obtained through your local government office. (See Reference 2)
- 4). Take the hybrid auto batteries to the recycling center that will accept them. Let the recycling service worker know what it is you're recycling, and be sure to get a receipt for the battery if any money is exchanged. (See Reference 2)
