You're preparing to remove tonsil stones, but you don't know how to do it.
You've read elsewhere that the removal could require surgery and possibly tonsil extraction.
This is definitely not the most attractive option, as far as you're concerned, so you're looking for alternatives.
While I can't promise you won't need surgery, I can offer two less invasive strategies that will work in many situations.
Strategy #1: Get Rid of Your Throat Stones Gag-Free A good place to start when attempting to remove tonsil stones is with the least invasive approach possible.
By least invasive, I mean that it won't require you to gag or stick anything in your throat.
If this doesn't work, you can always move on to the more invasive techniques, but this is probably the best place to start.
As far as non-invasive strategies go, the most commonly recommended is probably gargling something in an attempt to dislodge calcium deposits on the surface of your tonsils.
If you gargle mouthwash already, this is a good start.
Other possibilities include seltzer water and water with salt dissolved in it.
Strategy #2: Use a Toothbrush, a Spoon, or a Q-tip If the first strategy doesn't work when attempting to remove tonsil stones, you will have to adopt progressively more invasive strategies.
The next strategy on the list involves removing the throat stones yourself.
If the thought of this makes you gag, I don't blame you.
But it very well could prevent you from getting them surgically removed.
With this strategy, all you have to do is take something like a toothbrush, a spoon, or a Q-tip (which is probably the safest option); and use it to lightly brush your tonsils.
This will shake loose any surface debris, including throat stones if they are sufficiently loose.
Hopefully, one of these two strategies will work for you; and you will be throat stone free in no time.
If not-and if your stones are sufficiently bad-you may want to remove tonsil stones through surgery.
