How to Install a Belt On a Craftsman Snowblower
- 1). Remove the gas cap, attach a plastic bag over the cap and re-install the gas cap. This will prevent gas leakage during belt replacement.
- 2). Remove the large plastic shroud located on the front of the snow blower. The drive belt is located behind this cover.
- 3). Locate the upper and lower pulley. Loosen the bolt holding the lower pulley into position with a ratchet and socket. This will allow the drive belt to be easily removed from both pulleys. Remove the drive belt from the snow blower with your hand.
- 4). Lay the snow blower on its side. Locate the skid plate at the bottom. Remove the bolts using a ratchet and socket. Remove the skid plate.
- 5). Locate the pulley in between the two disc structures. Remove the belt by grasping it with your hand and pulling it out of the snow blower.
- 6). Install the new belt in between the two discs on the underside of the snow blower. Replace the skid plate and fasten using the factory screws. Tip the snow blower in the upright position.
- 7). Align the drive belt over the pulleys in the front of the snow blower. Confirm that the belt is installed in the correct position.
- 8). Re-install the plastic shroud on the front of the snow blower. Tighten the screws.
- 9). Remove the gas cap. Remove the plastic bag and re-install the gas cap.
