Air Fuel Gauge Instructions

1
    • 1). Disconnect the negative cable from your vehicle battery. Use a wrench to loosen the hexagonal battery plug.

    • 2). Find a location suitable for installation of your air fuel gauge. Use a rotary tool to cut a hole in the dash. If you are using a 2-inch gauge, cut a hole with measurements of 2.098 inches. If you are using a gauge that is 2 5/8 inches, make a hole that is 2.670 inches.

    • 3). Feed the wiring through the dash and route it down into the engine. Place the lock washer and nut onto the threaded barb of the gauge; tighten it in place with the supplied retaining bracket. Press the gauge into the hole and open the hood of your car. Prop up the hood and locate your oxygen sensor. Consult your owner's manual to find the oxygen sensor on your vehicle.

    • 4). Cut a piece of 18-gauge wire long enough to reach from the sender terminal of your air-fuel gauge. Strip 1/4-inch insulation from the end of the wire, exposing the bare wire underneath. Connect one end of the wire to the sender terminal of your air-fuel gauge. Connect the other end to the oxygen-sensor signal wire. Consult your owner's manual to locate the sensor.

    • 5). Use a wire stripper to strip 1/4-inch piece of insulation from the oxygen-sensor wire. Connect the sender wire to the oxygen-sensor wire by twisting them together. Wrap the wires with electrical tape.

    • 6). Route the white wire of your air-fuel gauge to a 12-volt power supply. Consult you owner's manual to locate a 12-volt power diagram. Strip the end of the wire. Insert the end of the wire into a 12-volt fuse, or wrap it around a positive terminal.

    • 7). Route the black wire from your air-fuel gauge to a grounding point on your vehicle. Wrap the black wire around a bolt on the frame of the vehicle.

    • 8). Replace the negative battery cable on the battery. Test your air-fuel gauge by turning on your vehicle.
