* Initially just relax. It is most important for you to relax your mind and body. Many techniques are available to be used for relaxation. Breathing exercises are just one way. Deep breathing, a simple one, just deep breathing, slow and calmly. Inhale deeply and exhale deeply, relaxing all your muscles, one at a time. Tensing them and relaxing them, start with the toes and work your way up your whole body. Slowly and steadily.

* Reaching the hypnotic state of mind. Essentially, this is a state of mind where your mind and body are right on the brink of going to sleep. Of course, you should not actually fall to sleep and in order to avoid doing so, it is advisable that you use the gazing method. This involves focusing on any object in the room while you lie on your bed. Simply continue staring at the object until such time that your eyes close even though you can still see the object in front of you.

* When you reach a point where you can still see the object even though your eyes are closed, then you need to deepen your current state of mind even more. This can be done by looking around the room while your eyes remain closed. Amongst other things, you may very well begin to see some light patterns and even a sort of purplish haze inside the room. This is perfectly normal and there is no need for you to pay much attention to it. Instead, once the light is no longer visible you can take that as a sign that you've entered a deeper state. In all probability you will be so relaxed by this stage that you'll hardly be aware of your physical body at all.

* This step, is arguably the most important. With this step, you are going to be entering the realm of Vibration, where you will feel vibrations pass through you. With people who have been using astral projection techniques for a while, the vibrations begin early and with more control, and in many ways, this might show you that you are leaving your physical body. Go ahead and get used to the feeling, don't be frightened or enrvous.

* Controlling your state of vibration. You can control the vibrations in such a way that they move through your body. By using your mind you can direct these vibrations so that you can feel them all over as if there were waves washing over you. However, it will require a certain amount of practice before you are able to bring on these waves at will. Once you can create these ways at will, you're ready to leave your body.

* It is undeniable that the key to successful astral projection and astral travel lies in having control, in that it's your mind which has the power. While maintaining focus on the concept of leaving your physical body, one should first only allow a hand or foot to separate. When you can do this you should go ahead and attempt to stretch them towards an object nearby, whether you choose the wall, the ceiling, or even a random item in the room. If you manage to do this successfully then you should allow your hand or foot to return to your physical body. Now go ahead and begin slowing down the vibrations in order to bring your session to an end.

* This is the step where you will leave the body. Again following all of the previous steps, only this time instead of releasing just a hand or foot from the physical body you are going to move completely into your astral body. This requires a simple adjustment to step six. Instead of focusing on releasing one appendage, you are going to focus on releasing the astral body, by thinking about how light it feels, how weightless you are, how you are as light as feathers blowing in the breeze. The astral body should be moving out of the physical body, you feel as though you are floating, or flying.

Other popular methods include techniques such as the gazing method, the anchor method, and the rope technique. Ideally, one should spend some time experimenting with the different techniques in order to establish which technique suits you the most.

You may however not have immediate results regardless of the technique used, it make take you plenty of practice to achieve desired results.

When you are looking for a quicker shorter way to get results, remember that you should look at the audio tools that are available to you.
