How Do I Hook Two Monitors Together?

1
    • 1). Check to see if your computer supports a dual display. On the back of your unit, look at the ports on your video card. Many newer computers have video cards with more than one monitor output, such as a DVI and a VGA port, or two ports. If you have two ports, your computer will support two monitors with no modification. If you do not have two ports, you will need to add a video adapter or replace the current one with a new one with two ports.

    • 2). Connect both monitors to the video output ports on your computer using the appropriate cords. This may cause both monitors to be automatically recognized by your computer.

    • 3). For Windows 7 and Vista users, press the Start button, then enter the Control Panel. Choose "Appearance and Personalization." Click "Personalization", then select "Display Settings" to open the settings for your display and select your second monitor from the settings on this tab. Select your desired display configuration, then click "OK" to apply the dual display. Alternatively, you may see a box that appears when your second monitor is connected which will allow you to access these settings and configure your display without having to enter the settings menu.

    • 4). For Mac OS users, select the Apple menu in the upper left hand corner, then select "System Preferences" from the drop down menu. Select "Displays" from the menu options, then select "Detect Displays" to acknowledge your second display. Select your desired display configuration to arrange your new display.
