The Greener Side of Industrial Degreasers

25
Many manufacturing and production industries use industrial degreasers to clean the parts and equipment used to make their products.
Traditional degreasers use artificial chemicals that are highly regulated, dangerous to the environment, and toxic to humans and wild animals.
A major concern among Americans today is protecting the environment and this involves using products that are not harmful to it.
Because of this, more and more pressure is being put on manufacturers and businesses to switch to more environmentally friendly products and procedures.
In response, many industries, including the aerospace industry, are switching to organic degreasers to help the environment and remove pressure caused by tight government regulations.
Cleaning machinery and parts is a very detailed and complicated process.
There are many factors that must be considered when choosing a method of cleaning and the cleaning materials to be used.
Some of these include the material to be cleaned, type of contamination, where it will be cleaned, and the cleaning technique.
Often the process is performed directly on the production line and the materials vary along with the type of contamination.
The cleaning process can be performed in one step if it is done manually; however, in most industrial facilities it takes many steps.
Each step could require its own chamber and bath exchange for cleaning.
A bath exchange removes contaminants and old agents from the system.
Organic degreasers can be used in place of the artificial chemicals currently being used in the facility if they do not change the end result.
This could require some extensive research but has many benefits for companies.
Companies also have to comply with all Federal and State regulations.
Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are the two main measurements for environmental harm by businesses.
VOCs occur when UV light reacts with nitrogen oxides from automobiles, manufacturing plants, power plants, and others.
Certain VOCs are limited by regulation and others are exempt depending on their adverse effect on the ozone.
HAP regulations consider any facility that emits ten or more tons of HAP on a yearly basis to be a major source.
These regulations vary depending on the industry and are in effect nationwide.
VOC regulations only apply to areas that cannot meet the national standards and are required to keep VOC emissions at a certain percentage rate.
Many of the regulations set by Federal and State government will not apply for companies that switch to organic degreasers because they do not disperse pollutants into the environment.
Organic degreasers use all natural ingredients and eliminate the need for artificial chemicals.
They may used for heavy duty and high performance cleaning and after much research are just as affective as artificial chemicals with less risk to the environment.
These degreasers are designed to be less harmful for humans, non-toxic, and biodegradable.
Companies will have to deal with less regulation and will have safer working conditions for their employees.
At the same time they will be working toward a better environment for future generations.
