GMC Sierra MI Auto Times Best Truck Winner: ‘Where is it now?' Edition
DETROIT – GMC Sierra MI Auto Times is investigating how our Best Truck winner is fairing in the Detroit Metro Area.
MI Auto Times contacted Tom Moran, President of Buick GMC Detroit Metro Local Marketing Association, a group that represents 23 Buick GMC dealers in the Detroit Metro area, for a candid interview about the GMC Sierra.
Sales on the Rise
The GMC Sierra sales have increased 5 percent this year over last, inventory is better than any other vehicle in the lineup, and production remains high. At the dealerships, Truck Month begins in October with the GMC Sierra positioned front and center.
"We expect the GMC Sierra to have a tremendous growth in sales and gain market share during Truck Month," Mr. Moran said. "Beginning today and during this event we have aggressive lease options on the GMC Sierra. We say this because our Sierra sales have been up as it is, and now we're adding lease promotions that are lower than they've been in years.
"For example, our group of dealers can now offer a lease on the 2011 Sierra 1500 SL extended cab of $227 per month, the 1500 SLE extended cab with Power Tech Package for $290 per month, and the Sierra Crew Cab with Power Tech Package for $299 per month, all with little money due at signing. On top of the lease programs we don't lose anything on the finance side with zero percent APR for 60 months on 2011 Sierras."**
The deep lease payment reductions are part of GMC's Truck Month, which Moran said will provide a whole new level of access to customers who otherwise wouldn't consider leasing the Sierra before because it's been priced out of their reach.
"Truck Month also includes SUVs, and we're going heavy on those vehicles by creating opportunities for buyers such as zero percent on Yukons and up to $7,500 cash back," Mr. Moran added.
The GMC Sierra: Best Truck
In July, MI Auto Times rated full-size pickup trucks for our readers and awarded the GMC Sierra Best Truck; consumers must agree as Sierra sales continue to increase.
The Sierra was the better choice over the Ford F150 based on key elements such as its 1,300 additional pounds of towing capacity, 100,000 mile/5-year transferable Powertrain Limited Warranty and automatic subscription to On-Star for one year. The GMC Sierra overtook the Dodge Ram because the Sierra had a greater payload and towing capacity, better value-added technology in the form of On-Star, and a more enhanced warranty program that provided services such as 24/7 Roadside Assistance and 100,000 mile/5-year courtesy transportation.
