    Leather

    • When many think of western furniture and decor, leather usually comes to mind. Leather was used frequently in the old west for furniture coverings and apparel. Today, leather furniture is a great backdrop for western-inspired accessories and decor. Leather sectionals have recliners and sleep-a-way beds that can be used to house many guests. Rusty horse plaques and turquoise elements accent leather furniture nicely. Cowboy horseshoe spur sconces are great candle holders that can also be placed on walls to add subtle lighting.

    Cedar furniture

    • Cedar furniture provides a cool, crisp look in any ranch-style home. The bedroom can have a four-post cedar bed that complements a Native American or Santa Fe comforter set. Wool blankets in a variety of colors make great throws for a cedar bed, adding color and contrast against the wood. A studded leather headboard adds a sense of rich style. Cedar-log side tables and nightstands provide great places for lamps and personal items in the bedroom. A cedar rocker makes a great accent in the bedroom, especially a child's room. Cedar garden swings can be used in the front porch or garden.

    Horses

    • Horses are widely incorporated into western decor. Plate sets are a good example of this. Horse harness yokes can be turned into coat racks by adding cast-iron hooks---this is a great look for a bathroom or mudroom. Cast metal horse sculptures are perfect for horse and cowboy lovers alike, making great living room and bedroom accents. Horseshoes can be used to surround and accent tin decor signs such as "Welcome to the Ranch" and "Wranglers for Hire."

    Western accessories

    • Western mirrors are great accents for hallways and bathrooms. The mirror may be surrounded by small wrought iron handles and hinges set in its wood frame. Western area rugs bring color to hardwood floors. Rug designs are endless and include a southwest look along with horses and Indians. Western-inspired lighting including teepees and and horse sconces bring subtle lighting to any room in the house.

    Wagon wheels

    • Wagon wheels play a huge part in western decor. Some are incorporated into coffee tables that resemble wagons. Plywood or oak wagons with wagon wheels on each side provide an area for displaying items under a glass tabletop. They can also be made into small accent tables with the help of old wine barrels topped with glass. The wagon wheel bench is a popular way to add an accent to the front porch or entryway of a home. Wagon wheels themselves make great accent pieces. They can be used on the walls to show off pictures and hold various western-inspired knickknacks.
