Traditional Narayanpet Handloom Sarees
The narayanpet traditional handlooms are made in Narayanpet, a town in Mahbubnagar District, A.P., India. The sarees are well known for its zari check patterns on a cotton body with contrasting color temple border and plain border on both side. The zari floral designs are also well known handlooms.

These fabrics are washed again and dried in shade for fastness of colour to be retained, the yarn is spun into threads. The threads are laid out on the warp (lengthwise lay) and rolled onto small sticks for the weft (breadth wise weaving).
From one beam of warp a weaver can make 25-30 sarees. It takes a month to complete weaving of one beam. The narayanpet handloom sarees are traditionally woven in the interlocked-weft technique.
