Requirements for Australian Tourist Visas
- If you are over the age of 70, will be visiting a hospital in Australia, have visited a country with high tuberculosis rates or will be staying in Australia longer than three months, you may need a health examination to obtain a tourist visa. The Australian authorities will let you know if you need to complete this prior to arriving in the country.
- Certain people are barred from receiving an Australian tourist visa, including those who have an extensive criminal record or have an association with a criminal group.
- In order to obtain an Australian tourist visa, you must prove you have the funds available to finance your trip. Bank statements, pay stubs or proof of credit may be requested after you submit your application.
- In order to submit your application for a tourist visa, you will need to provide a valid passport, a certified copy of your birth certificate and a recent passport photo.
- U.S. travelers may submit their application for a tourist visa online. If you will be staying in Australia for less than three months, you will not need to pay an application fee. Applications for tourist visas over three months require a AU$100 fee (Australian dollars).
