Dural Sinus
Updated March 10, 2008.
Definition: One of the vein-like canals that runs between the brain and the skull, through which oxygen-depleted blood from the brain's tissues flows back into the body's circulatory system.
Examples: The dural sinuses empty their blood into the internal jugular vein, which brings blood towards the heart and the lungs where it can be re-supplied with oxygen.
