  Your car is your baby, and you want to make it stand out from the crowd. After all, it's an extension of your personality. Don't you want to show it off to the world? The best part about customizing your car is that you can be as mild or as wild as you'd like. Also, you never have to stop. You can always change anything, even if you've already changed it once.
  
  

Exterior

• You might consider a new paint job, for a start, or perhaps adding decals---but be careful. Have a theme in mind before you start radically altering your car's appearance.
  
  If you've got a specific artistic vision in mind, find good airbrush artists who work on cars. Talk to them about what you envision, and make sure to bring any applicable photos or printouts. They should be able to create an image that suits you. If you feel very comfortable with them, you might even consider letting them have free rein over your car's design.
  
  It's not unique anymore, but thoughtfully used carbon fiber body panels and accents can do a lot to enhance a car's appearance. Avoid fake carbon fiber at all costs; most of it isn't made very well and peels quickly.
  
  

Interior

• Unless you absolutely love your seats, you may want to think about changing them. If you're interested in racing your car, bucket seats might be just the thing. Go to stores that specialize in aftermarket car accessories and sit in a few to see what you like best. If your current seats are comfortable, you can also have them reupholstered to your taste
  
  Your steering wheel and shift knob can also be changed. There are a lot of sellers offering aftermarket parts online, but it's always good to see something in person before you buy it. Use a combined approach: check your local aftermarket car parts store to look at and touch accessories you're interested in. After you've decided, shop around for the best price. It may or may not be online. Don't assume you can't get a good deal at a brick-and-mortar store.
  
  If you want to get more involved, your dashboard panels, carpeting, and headliner can be customized and/or changed outright as well.
  
  

Performance

• New wheels and tires serve a dual purpose: they can improve the performance and handling of your car, but they can add a good deal to the look as well. Find out what wheels and tires will fit your car; then go to town.
  
  An exhaust system can not only change how your car sounds, but it can also drastically affect performance. Check to see what fits your car.
  
  Suspension tuning can affect performance and ride comfort. Check to see what your options are for your particular make and model.
  
  Various engine upgrades are available as well, depending on how far you want to go. Changing your air filter to a K&N might improve your airbox's "breathing," but maybe you want to change your airbox entirely first. It's all up to you as to how far you want to take it.
