An aging war hero, Harrison won the election of 1840 with the classic campaign slogan, "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too," and was inaugurated on March 4, 1841. It was a very cold day in Washington, and Harrison marked the occasion by delivering a very long inaugural address, clocking in at more than two hours.

A mere month after taking office, Harrison died and was succeeded in office by his vice president, John Tyler.
