How to Do an Accu-Chek
- 1). Rinse your hands in warm water to increase your blood circulation.
- 2). Dry your hands completely once you have washed them thoroughly.
- 3). Turn the Accu-Chek meter on by pressing and holding down the power button on the Accu-Chek device until the digital numbering appears on the device screen. (The power button is usually located below the device screen or along the side of the device.)
- 4). Insert the disposable lancet component into the bottom of the Accu-Chek device.
- 5). Take out one of the new test strips, and prepare it for lancing.
- 6). Select a spot along your fingertip, and place the lancing device over your fingertip.
- 7). Press the lancing button to prick your fingertip. (Pricking takes only a second, as the lancing needle pokes the fingertip and quickly removes itself automatically.)
- 8). Place the new test strip over your ruptured fingertip to collect the drop of blood.
- 9). Insert the test strip into the bottom of the Accu-Chek device with the blood sample facing upward. The device will then collect the blood sample and display your numeric results on the device's digitalized screen.

Remove and dispose of the lancet component.
