How to Access DVDs in Another Computer
- 1). Insert the DVD into the remote computer's drive. On your local computer from which you want to access the drive, click the Windows "Start" button and click "Computer" to open an Explorer window.
- 2). Click the "Map network drive" button at the top of the window. This opens an Explorer window. Click the drive letter drop-down box and select a letter shortcut for the mapped drive.
- 3). Type the location of the remote DVD drive. The format for mapped drives is "\\computer\d$" where "computer" is the remote computer's name and "d" is the DVD drive.
- 4). Click "Finish." It only takes a few seconds to map the drive. In the Explorer window, double-click the newly mapped drive letter. This opens the content of the DVD drive on the remote computer.
