How to Replant an EarthBox
- 1). Pull the spent plants and the plastic mulch out of the EarthBox.
- 2). Remove the potting soil with a trowel.
- 3). Fill the upper chamber of the EarthBox with fresh potting soil. Sprinkle a granulated fertilizer over the soil.
- 4). Turn the replacement fitted plastic mulch cover so that the black side is up unless you live in a desert climate or Florida during the summer. If you are planting an EarthBox under these conditions, turn the white side of the mulch cover upward to keep the soil from overheating and damaging plants inside the container. Align one of the pre-made holes in the corner of the mulch with the fill tube in the EarthBox and stretch the mulch cover over the top of the container. The mulch cover will fit over the corners of the container like a fitted sheet over the corners of a bed.
- 5). Dig planting holes through the X shaped openings in the Earthbox mulch cover. Place the root ball of your transplant through the hole and cover the roots with soil. Pull back the mulch cover and water from above to remove any air spaces. Cover the roots with soil again.
