Why Travel to LA?

8
At the top of my head, Hollywood. I would love to go to cafes and casually bump into Zac Efron, although I'm quite sure €casually€ is not how it's going to happen. More like hysterically, maybe. But aside from the glitz and glamor in Hollywood, what else can you expect from a trip to LA? A lot, actually. Here are the reasons why LA should be your next destination, no matter how hard it is to get a US visa around here.

Beverly Hills

If you're a 90s kid, you definitely know the zip code of Beverly Hills, thanks to that hit TV show, which had a remake a couple of years ago. And although the costumes and the scripts have changed, Beverly Hills is still the 90210 that you see from the old show - it's still the hub of the rich and famous, sometimes bratty kids who have the littlest cares in the world. Case in point, if it weren't an interesting place, there'd be no shows created about the life one can live there.

Paramount Pictures

Another familiar name, Paramount Pictures is the production giant behind our favorite movies, from classics like Titanic to newer pieces like Paranormal Activity. It was established in 1912, and up until now is still considered as the one of the largest and most successful production companies in the world. For $40, you can tour movie sets and get an inside look on what actors and production staff see everyday.

Hollywood

This is where all the stars are. It is the most happening place in LA! Wouldn't it be interesting to walk around and pretend to be a star too? Wear your sunglasses, baseball cap, loose shirt, shorts and flip flops and act like a star avoiding the paparazzi. Check out places Hollywood actors and artists frequent, such as the independent bookstore called Book Soup. And if you feel like going back to being your normal self, simply flock to Universal Studios and act all tourist-y again.

Six Flags Magic Mountain

I'm a big sucker for great rides; so naturally, it is my dream to go to Six Flags, where all the crazy rides are. Tickets are priced at $65, or around P2,700. You owe it to yourself to man up and try all the rides. It's expensive!

The Venice Beach

Don't expect even half of how beautiful Boracay is. The Venice Beach in LA is not to be visited for its physical beauty, but for its vibrant life and culture. Check it out during nighttime to see locals and tourists walking around, rollerblading, and even busking! It's a great place to shop for souvenirs too!

*sigh* If only flights to the LAX are as cheap as the Tiger Airways flights to Singapore.
